Monoprints

Monoprinting was similar to silkscreen printing in the way that there was applied paint to a white background and it stays with pressure. But instead of wanting to put more paint in the white space, we layered paint on top of the existing paint to reveal interesting patterns/new color. In my first print, I was going for complementary colors red violet and yellow green, even though it sort of looks like maroon and mint. I didn't apply all of the pressure in the right spots, that's why it looks a little odd. In my second print, I used analogous colors violet, red, and red violet. The plain red isn't very visible because I kept applying layers of paint without putting the paper patterns on. It didn't turn out as bad as I thought in would in the end. In my third and final print I used blue violet, red orange, and yellow green which are split complementary colors. I spaced out the circles a little differently than the second one but I think it still represents good balance and it's a little more pleasing to the eye rather than an outline of the page. This project was fun for me because I like working with paint and I really like how the third one looks like it's hiding objects.
